Random January Nonsense

Here’s some random goodness on this wonderful day!

I’m not ‘allowed’ to remove Christmas decorations until after my husbands birthday every year. It’s Christmas until at least Jan 8. This year, it was Christmas until Jan. 13th.

I have a nail polish addiction. I recently had to purchase a new storage place for my nail polish.

My sister-in-law is about to pop. She’s growing a human and that human is READY!

Baby tummy

I have read Fifty Shades of Grey – Twice! And… I am not ashamed. I like the story.

I have this ‘feel like a teenager’ crush on Ian Somerhalder. I wish I could meet him. He seems so extremely down to earth. Every time I try to meet him, it never works out. Wait…do I sound like a stalker??

I’m at work right now. I actually typed this particular line on Notepad so I wouldn’t forget it. : )

Emerald Simply natural Almonds are DELICIOUS!

I have a teenager at home and we watch a lot of teenage shows together. I love it!

I just ordered my self a new purse/bag. It’s a Dooney. My first. I don’t usually buy myself expensive brand name stuff….  ; ) hehehe

New Bag

I need to go to Target today (this line was written on Monday) for things like Shampoo, Conditioner, razors.. you know… hygiene necessities.

I made it to Target yesterday and got my “stuff”.

Today is Tuesday.

The teenager used to be a cute pudgy little thing who wanted me to scratch her back every night before she went to sleep.

Cutie

I love my family and never ever get to see them enough!

My husband got me this awesome FM transmitter thingy that plugs into the lighter outlet. I can plug my Ipod into it (most 2004’s don’t have an Ipod connection!) . I love it so much. I got to listen to all the best stuff on my way to work today.

That’s it for January I guess. Unless I get another random mood.

Flu be gone

So I decided to do a reset on my blog for 2013. I posted one post and disappeared for a week! If anyone is out there actually reading this – I apologize!

After a long and tiring chase..the Flu Bug managed to catch me. This is not something that happens often. It’s running rampant through my neck of the woods and I just had no where else to run or hide!

FLU

I don’t get a flu shot, not even now after feeling the effects of that nasty little bugger. I don’t believe in vaccinations of any kind. I just don’t. That’s a discussion for another post.

Anyway, I had it all… stuffy nose, headache, sinus pressure, coughing, fatigue, fever…the works. I was completely down and out for almost a week!

kleenex

The only good thing about being on my couch sick for a week was that I caught up on lots of TV shows and movies! I also caught up on lots of missed sleep from the holiday’s! I really love my couch and my pillows and blankets. I don’t get to spend enough time with it. This past week though, we have rekindled our relationship. : )

New Year – New Start – New Fun

Happy 2013 to Everyone!!

Fireworks

I guess I lost the blog “bug” awhile back. Life happens…right?

So, I figure the Mayans were wrong and we are all still here chugging away at life. It seems like the perfect time to start fresh and get back to blogging all about my life and feelings! Yay for all of you!

I don’t usually have New Years Resolutions, but, I think this year I’m going to have a few and perhaps blog about how I am doing with them periodically through 2013. That way I will either:

A. Keep up with them..or

B. See how funny they were in 6 months when I haven’t thought about them again.

So….here they are: New Years Resolutions for 2013:

1. Be part of a Flash Mob (if anyone hears of any in Central Fl. let me know!)

2. Remain positive while at work at least 3 days a week. : )

3. Be Healthy – this is a general goal that makes sense to me. Just be healthy.

4. Work towards a fun and successful blog (it’s hard work)

That’s it for 2013. Those are my goals. I hope to write more specific blogs on some of them as the year goes on.

He’s makin a list…

and checkin it twice!

Hopefully in my absence everyone has become festive and ready for the holiday season. No matter what you celebrate, if anything….this time of year is wonderful! Is chilly outside, the air is crisp, my dogs even get a little bug in their butt when they go outside! Everything is decorated so beautifully, everything smells wonderful and most of us get time off work for something or other!

I and my family celebrate Christmas and all its glory. We believe in Santa and reindeer and Christmas magic as well. I do not agree that Santa takes away from Jesus – he’s a completely different entity of Christmas and if you are not secure enough in your faith to celebrate Jesus and believe in Santa then I’m sorry  – you’re missing out!

We don’t even have any small children right now and yet we still write Santa a letter and leave cookies out every year!! We believe in Christmas magic and we love it! The house is covered in decorations and it’s beautiful – well except for the Griswold tree in our living room.

The tree was gorgeous on day 1 and 2 and maybe 3. Then the cat started to climb it, swat it and sleep in it. Then the dog started to remove any ornaments in his reach and eat them. Then the strands of lights slowly started to go out, 1 by 1 until only the bottom portion of the tree is lit. *sigh*  That’s the Griswold life. The half with ornaments is dark and the half without them, is lit.

With the tree thing aside, the house is beautiful and ready, we’re festive and ready, Christmas music plays, we’re all shopped out, we’ve made our lists and delivered them to Santa. We’re ready for the big man to pay us a visit.

I love to give more than to receive. The receiving part is nice but not as nice as the smiles on my loved ones faces as they peel away the paper and see what lies beneath. It’s a blessing that I can provide those smiles on their faces. I know others in our world cannot. I don’t let that go unthought on Christmas. I’m thankful. I had a Christmas wish months ago, unfortunately, Santa cannot fulfill this one for me (unless I move to 34th street by Sunday morning) but I know, with that aside, I will still have a wonderful and perfect Christmas day celebrating with my favorite people in the world!

How about you? Did you make your list, have you been good? When Santa checks, are you naughty or nice?

Let’s vote in a new Sad Clown

Clowns. A lot of people have a fear of clowns. I’m not afraid of them but I typically find them annoying and a little creepy as well.
There is a sad clown that’s quite a famous clown and you see pictures of him everywhere:

Do you recognize him? He’s like the billboard for a sad clown.

I think we should change the billboard sad clown to a new representative of sad clowns. I saw the clown that’s perfect for the job the other day. I like this sad clown way better:

What do you think? We could start a world-wide petition!

It’s the holiday season…

With a Whoop-de-do!! Ahhh yes, the holiday season has arrived. Well actually the corporate who-ha’s forced it to be the holiday season about a month ago but I tried to ignore that. As the Halloween candy went on clearance, the Christmas candy moved its way onto the shelves. I even saw Jolly Ole St. Nick make his way into our malls before Thanksgiving!

Personally our County fair kicks off the holiday season for me. It has something to do with the smells and the lights and the thrills. It’s great and I love that it comes through town in November. However, that doesn’t mean I want to head out to visit Santa the next day at the mall. It means I want a chance to see some fall colors, and silly turkey decorations and I want to anticipate Thanksgiving and stress about cooking and cleaning for family. Our chance to really enjoy Thanksgiving and it’s meaning with family is getting smaller ad smaller.

I feel more pressure about the holiday’s instead of slowly enjoying myself. Everything seems to be about the stores making more and more money and the real world doesn’t seem to have enough of it. I find it taking longer and longer to find my Christmas spirit. So far this year I have purchased zero gifts. I have started to decorate the house though and am really hoping the ABC Family 25 days of Christmas will give me the boost I need.

Does anyone else feel this same holiday pressure? It’s horrible and not festive like I want it to be. I know that nothing will ever top the anticipation we had as children where every day leading up to Christmas break was soooo long and every day and night thereafter drug on and on as well until finally Christmas eve arrived – possibly the LONGEST night of the year! I know nothing will top that as an adult and the holiday spirit is just different. But it’s there even as adults. It’s different for each adult. Perhaps you love time with friends or family. Or maybe it’s the excitement you see in your children’s eyes. Either way – it’s there and present but with each passing year it seems as though it’s less and less.

I blame corporate. Who decided to make Christmas a 3 month-long holiday? Stop rushing me into Christmas and just let me enjoy the season. It’s not all about Christmas. There is an entire season to enjoy here people!!! Back off and let me live it!

Where’s Waldo??

Or better yet…..Where’s Moo? Take a look at the picture and see if you can find her?

Did you find her?? That’s not a life-like ornament folks, that’s Moo the pain-in-my-booty kitten. You know it’s the holiday season when your cat is in a tree……in the house!! I have no idea how we will keep any ornaments on our tree this year. It’s going to be quite the Griswold Christmas adventure around here, I can see it now.

Being Thankful

This post is a smidge on the late side huh? I guess life swept me up again and carried me away!!

I started this post about being Thankful before Thanksgiving which is the day that EVERYONE in the blog world was posting about being thankful …. soooo to keep up the tradition of being a Griswold and an always Late Laura, here is my Thankful post!

I’m thankful this year for my husband and our second year of marriage. We made it yet another year in this hard hard world. I love you my super cute stinkapotamus!

I’m thankful for my wonderful family. This includes my husbands wonderful family as well. I have so many caring people in my life.

I’m thankful for the fact that I have a job, a car and a house. So many people in our country, state and town don’t have 1 or more of these things. Being that it is after Thanksgiving, I am now thankful for a wonderful family filled Thanksgiving holiday. It was awesome. I love all of you and wish we could have more days like that! Looking forward to Christmas!

I’m thankful that my cousins baby girl was born beautiful and healthy this year.

I’m thankful for the show “How I Met Your Mother” I just recently started watching this show and I LOVE it!

I’m thankful for friends close and far. You are all great and wish that everyone was close to me all the time. Thank you all for everything!

I’m thankful for “The Vampire Diaries” too and Ian Somerhalder – He’s hot!

I’m thankful for delicious dinners and TV shows with my teenager, once in a while she makes me feel young.

I’m thankful for girls days full of snacks and Twilight movies – Including Breaking Dawn which I am so thankful I was able to see it already.

So anyway… what are all of you thankful for this season and this non-thanksgiving Tuesday?

Happy Anniversary

Happy Anniversary to my husband. I love you! It’s been a great two years and a great 8ish before that!

All these years later and the little things still drive me crazy! (candy wrappers, stinky feet, hair in the sink, soda cans) But they are so worth all the great things you do. (love notes, vitamins, packing lunch, going to the store, waking me up)

I have said it before and I still feel it – we have a great thing! Sometimes we are off our game and things seem a little off but I always love you more than anything else! I love you and love everything you do for me!

I can’t wait for the rest of our life together my love!  Happy Anniversary!!

I sure do love that guy!! All his silly antics and his stinky ole socks included!

How many years have you been married? How’s married life?
